Alyson Borycki is a self-taught artist, creating bold and playful abstract paintings. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, she received her degrees in Commerce and Education at the University of Saskatchewan and worked as an elementary school teacher before relocating to Toronto. She has participated in several exhibitions since the start of her professional art career in 2021, and her work is held in private collections throughout Canada and the United States. Alyson draws deeply and vulnerably from her inner world and emotions, focusing on themes of empowerment, growth, and self-discovery.
“I like to think of my art process as a practice of storytelling—every piece is a self-portrait or an expression of my path at any given time. Drawing from my interest in architecture and geometry as well as my enjoyment of the natural world, I use the interaction of shapes and lines within my work to tell a story of contentment and grounding balanced with curiosity and growth. As I process my emotions through my work, I strive to communicate the possibilities of what could be when we overcome fear and self-doubt and move towards the truest version of ourselves.”
